Tanzania has set October 1, 2026, as the start date for its mandatory travel insurance requirement for foreign visitors entering the country’s mainland. This coverage can be purchased online prior to departure or upon arrival and remains valid for up to 92 days.

In addition to securing your eVisa (see below), Visa Travel International can also arrange this insurance, which is required for entry into and your stay in the country.

General information

To travel to Tanzania a visa is generally required with a few exceptions.

Visa Travel International is an agency approved by the Tanzanian consulate to assist you in your formalities and whatever the type of visa you need.

To this end, you will find on this page all the information and answers to questions that will be useful to you in order to obtain your visa. If this is not the case, please do not hesitate to get back to us so that we can give you all the information you need.

Do you need a Visa for Tanzania ?

Having a Visa(eVisa) is mandatory to travel to Tanzania and obtaining a visa is done exclusively online via the Tanzanian immigration site.

Having subscribed the insurance is also mandatory to stay in Tanzania.

Please note, travelers with one of the following nationalities must obtain, before applying for a visa, a special authorization from the Commissioner General for Immigration or the Commissioner for Immigration (Zanzibar): Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Chad, Djibouti, Ethiopian, Eretria, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan , Lebanon, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Yemen, Stateless persons or persons with refugee status

Conditions of entry in Tanzania

To be able to enter Tanzanian territory, the traveler must bring his passport, a copy of the electronic visa if requested in advance, the insurance required as well as a return flight ticket.

All travelers entering or transiting through Tanzania—whether via land borders, sea ports, or airports—are advised to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with the vaccination regimen approved in their country of residence.

Travelers entering or transiting through mainland Tanzania are no longer required to present a vaccination certificate or a negative COVID-19 test result. However, for surveillance purposes, border health officials may conduct random, free-of-charge antigen tests on travelers upon arrival at any time.

Upon arrival in the country, thermal and physical health checks will be conducted. Passengers exhibiting symptoms will be immediately isolated and managed in accordance with established health protocols.

Understanding the Visa for Tanzania

The Tanzania visa is valid from the day it is issued for a period of three months for single entry. Tourists can stay up to 30 days while a business visa entitles you to a stay of up to 60 days.
