General information

To travel to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, a Visa is generally required.

If you are a French national, you will need to obtain a Visa (Business or Tourism) before your departure for Mauritania.

Please note that intermediaries are not authorized by the Consulate to submit the application. The Visa must be obtained in person, without any possible intermediary, at the Consulate of Mauritania in Paris.

However, Visa Travel International can assist you in compiling your file and collecting your passport with Visa.

Do you need a Visa for Mauritania?

If you are a French national, whether for Business or Tourism reasons and for a short stay, having a Visa before departure is mandatory.

Please note that no Visa is issued upon arrival in the country.

Conditions of entry in Mauritania

To be able to enter Mauritanian territory, the traveler must bring their passport (with Visa) as well as a return flight ticket.

It should be noted that, even if the traveler is in possession of all the documents requested to validate his entry into Mauritania, the Mauritanian authorities reserve the right to refuse access to their territory without having to justify it.

Understanding the Visa for Mauritania

 The duration of the Visa is proposed according to the request and the documents provided.

Documents to be provided

  • Short stay visa application form duly completed and signed (Visa Travel International can complete it for you)
  • Single-person passport still having at least 6 months of validity after the end of the stay
  • 2 recent ID photos
  • 1 proof of accommodation:
    • Issued by the town hall and accompanied by a copy of the accommodation’s identity card or resident card
    • If hotel accommodation: reservation confirmed for applicants who are not supported in Mauritania
  • Letter of invitation for applicants who are on a business mission to Mauritania
  • National identification number or passport number of the host

 

As a reminder: submitting a visa application file to the Mauritanian consulate can only be done in-person (link to the Consulate website).
