To travel to Benin a Visa is generally necessary with a few exceptions.

A Visa (eVisa) for Benin is compulsory except for nationals of the following countries (for a stay of less than 90 days): Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Chad and Togo.
For citizens of South Africa a Visa is not required for a stay of less than 30 days.
Be careful, however, to inform yourself regularly about these exemptions which can be questioned at any time by the authorities of Benin.
To be able to enter the territory of Benin, the traveler must bring his passport with Visa (eVisa) as well as a return flight ticket.
It should be noted that, even if the traveler is in possession of all the documents requested to validate his entry into Benin, the Beninese authorities reserve the right to refuse access to their territory without having to justify it.
The eVisa for Benin is offered according to the travel dates indicated during the application (except for multiple entry Visas which will be offered during the requested period).
The length of stay is 90 days maximum.
