General information

To travel to Kenya it is no longer necessary to obtain a Visa but an electronic travel authorization (eTA) as well as a compulsory insurance and they will be both valid for a single trip.

Visa Travel International is an agency approved by the Kenyan consulate to support you in your efforts to obtain your eTA and your insurance.

To this end, you will find on this page all the information and answers to questions that will be useful to you in obtaining your Visa. If this is not the case, do not hesitate to get back to us so that we can give you all the information you need..

Do you need a Visa for Kenya ?

It is now no longer necessary to obtain a Visa to enter Kenya.

However, it is mandatory to obtain an eTA (electronic Travel Authorization) instead of a Visa and an insurance made mandatory by the kenyan authorities. It is therefore necessary to obtain an eTA+insurance for a Business or Tourist trip.

Citizens of East African Community (EAC) member countries, namely Burundi, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan and Tanzania, are exempt of eTA Kenya.

NB: regardless of the age of travelers, including minor children, an electronic travel authorization (eTA) is necessary to travel to Kenya

Please note, the eTA is obtained before your departure (at least 72 hours before your departure) and cannot be obtained on site when arriving in Kenya.

Conditions of entry in Kenya

To be able to enter Kenyan territory, the traveler must bring their passport with their eTA, the insurance subscribed prior to the trip as well as a return flight ticket.

It should be noted that, even if the traveler is in possession of all the documents required to validate his entry into Kenya, the Kenyan authorities reserve the right to refuse access to their territory without having to justify it.

Understanding the Visa for Kenya

The Kenya eTA is generally offered on the travel dates indicated in the Visa application.

Documents to be provided: eTA Business and Tourism (to be obtain minimum 72h prior departure)

  • A color scan of the double page of passport data

Please note: your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Kenya. “Emergency” passports are not accepted. 3 blank pages including 2 facing each other are required in the passport upon arrival in Kenya

  • A color scan of the identity photo, recent less than 6 months and different from that of the passport
  • Detailed proof of return transport (plane ticket – with flight number, travel certificate in English, etc.)
  • Proof of accommodation in Kenya (hotel reservation, accommodation certificate, family/friendly invitation letter, etc.)
  • For eTA Business, add:

           * Copy (JPEG format) of the company’s invitation letter to Kenya

  • Answer the following questions (to be inserted in your email back to us):

VTI’s advice for your trip to Kenya

The Kenyan consulate moved to ‘eVisa’ (eTA): no more Visa will be issued directly by the consulate.

Be careful with the processing time, the Kenyan eVisa is not quickly obtained.

Note: since September 2026, kenyan authorities impose a mandatory insurance ot be subscribed when applyying for the eTA. Visa Travel International will assist you for both, eTA and Insurance.
