What are a legalization and an apostille
Legalization and Apostille attest to the authenticity of a French document sent abroad.
At first glance, these two procedures seem similar, but only documents exchanged by countries adhering to the Hague Convention can qualify for the apostille (which is a simplified authentication procedure). For all other destinations legalization is required.
While each country has its own unique demands and pricing, the legalization process typically follows the following steps:
- Certification of the document by a government body related to the nature of the document (Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Notary, etc.)
- Authentication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Legalization at the consulate of the country concerned.
Depending on the destination, a sworn translation of the documents may be requested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
To help you in these, sometimes, very complex procedures, Visa Travel International is here!
Following your request by phone, email or via our website, we collect your documents, take the necessary steps with the required administrations and quickly return your items to you so that you can carry out your project with confidence.
What does an adoption procedure entail
The conditions required to adopt are:
- Obtain an authorization issued by the child welfare service (ASE in french) of your county
- Learn about the conditions required by the adopted country. You must comply with the requirements of the legislation of the child’s country of origin, indicated in the international adoption country sheets from the International Adoption Mission (MAI).
Each sheet indicates in particular whether the country is subject to the Hague Convention (CLH in french) and the requirements of local law (who can adopt, adoptable children, local authorities in charge of adoption cases, effects of the adoption decision ( full or simple adoption). If the child’s country is subject to the Hague Convention (CLH), you must apply for adoption through: the International Adoption Mission (MAI in french), or the French adoption agency (AFA in french), or an authorized adoption agency (OAA)
Good to know:
In general, the adoption of a foreign child can only be granted if there is no solution for him in his country of origin. The law of the child’s country must allow adoption.
In order to carry out this project in good administrative conditions and in accordance with the procedures, VTI helps you with the legalization of the necessary documents.
