From November 3 to December 13, 2026 (as of the time of this announcement), travelers bound for the United States will be required to complete a new health-related formality. Similar to measures already implemented by other countries, this requirement is intended to prevent the importation of the Ebola virus, in light of an ongoing outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Each passenger must attest that they have neither stayed in nor transited through the DRC during the 21 days prior to their departure for the United States. This requirement applies to all air travelers, regardless of their nationality or point of departure, including those who have not recently traveled to Africa.

The measure also applies to passengers transiting through the United States, even if they remain within the airport’s international transit area. Both adults and minors must provide this declaration; for children, it must be completed by a legal guardian.

This attestation is in addition to standard entry requirements, such as an ESTA or a visa.

The attestation may be presented in either paper or digital format.
