Starting in mid-September, European Union passport holders will see the duration of their visa-free stays in Thailand reduced.

The Thai Embassy in Paris has confirmed a reduction in the visa-exemption period for stays in Thailand (from 60 days to 30 days). This measure takes effect on September 15th, 2026.

After this date, the visa-exemption period will drop from 60 to 30 days. This rule applies to nationals of around sixty countries, including France. In practical terms, for any stay exceeding 30 days, you will be required to obtain an eVisa before departure (Visa Travel International provides all relevant information on the Thailand page and can assist you in obtaining this electronic visa); the processing time for this visa is at least one month.

Planning ahead for your trip—regardless of the reason for travel—will be crucial!
